Falcon Lake hosted the eight teams taking part in this years Junior Pole Championships. Westwood Lakes lived up to its reputation for changeable conditions, with a cold wind and over night rain the youngsters found the fish slow to feed but soon worked out where the fish were feeding.
It was Worksops Mathew Batham who led the field with top weight of 75lb 6oz fishing pellet at 5 metres from peg 4, 2nd place was James Allen Match Aid Blue 69lbs 6oz peg 24, 3rd place fellow team mate Alan Williams 68lbs.8oz peg 2.
With most anglers opting to fish short in the conditions the team result was a close fought battle with weights being close most anglers catching 40 to 50lbs but it was the Match Aid Blue team that were out in front with total of 9 points, from Worksop A team 12 points, closely followed by last years winner Sensas A4 and Worksop B both 13 points.
This Annual event has made its home at Boston’s Westwood Lakes and is organised by Boston & District Angling Association. It is open to all junior anglers and teams of four next year’s competition is on Falcon and Osprey lakes on 20th May 2017. Please contact Dave Rance for more information on 07967271583.
